Anastasiia Vorobiova – Between Body and Avatar
Artist Talk
Saturday, October 17th, 6–8 pm
Moderated by Zoe Gudović
VBKÖ – Vereinigung bildender Künstler*innen Österreichs
Where does the body end and the avatar begin? What happens when our physical and digital bodies meet?
Ukrainian-born, Vancouver-based artist Anastasiia Vorobiova joins VBKÖ for a conversation about bodies, avatars, virtual reality, theatre, and collective experience.
Vorobiova works across theatre, digital performance, and immersive media, bringing together physical bodies, digital characters, moving images, sound, and audiences. Her practice explores how a body can become a character, an avatar, an archetype, or another kind of presence — and how technology can become part of performance rather than simply a tool.
The conversation will move through VR, cyberfeminism, contemporary ritual, archetypes, and the relationship between physical and virtual worlds. It also continues an artistic dialogue between Vorobiova and Gudović, who previously collaborated on STOP – From Macho to Davičo at brut Wien.
The evening will include time for questions and exchange with the audience.
Anastasiia Vorobiova is a Ukrainian-born, Vancouver-based artist whose practice spans theatre, digital performance, and immersive media.
