SKGAL
Secretariat for Ghosts, Archival Politics and Gaps (SKGAL)
Nina Hoechtl/Julia Wieger
2012, 102 years after being founded, Nina Hoechtl and Julia Wieger opened the Secretariat for Ghosts, Archival Politics and Gaps (SKGAL). The new Secretariat has enabled a critical analysis and examination of the association’s history. In particular, the role of the VBKÖ during the course of Austrofaschism and Nationalsocialism has been discussed, alongside the association’s class-specific and colonial entanglements.
SKGAL establishes connections between projects, investigations and discussions by different authors and in various formats setting up a continual, multi-perspective and collective historical work. The structures and methods of the Secretariat enable the continual analysis of historical narratives anew and create a space in which historical works can be learnt and unlearnt. Thereby, feminist and decolonizing perspectives are embedded and debates are made public.
